Who We Are
Thank you for considering joining Caregiver Connection, Portland's #1 Caregiver Registry since 1998. We help match caregivers to clients who are looking for independent skilled, experienced caregivers throughout the Portland, Oregon metro area, including Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties and Vancouver, Washington. Our caregivers work one-on-one with people in their homes. Many of our clients are seniors, or have medical conditions, or are on hospice, and thus we give preference to those with 6 years or more of experience, or nursing assistant or equivalent backgrounds which also include some in-home experience.

Earnings: Our caregivers earn higher-end compensation than agency caregivers--rates are determined directly between client and caregiver--generally ranging from $25-$35 per hour (or more), paid directly to you by the client

What is Caregiver Connection looking for in our registry caregivers?
More than just caregiving experience and skills; something special, something BETTER than the average caregiver
Specifically: ambition, professionalism, quality communication skills, articulateness, empathy, compassion, reliability, a good attitude, time-management skills, an ability to problem-solve, maturity, thoughtfulness and common sense
And preferably…caregivers who have lived in the Portland Metro, Vancouver, or surrounding areas for a few years
What requirements must registry caregivers meet?
Must show proof of at least 3 years of professional caregiving experience assisting people in their homes or in community-living environments (prefer 6+ years experience); this may not include informal care of family members, and is ideally more than companion-level care, or proof of completed nursing assistant or similar training with ability/comfort working in home settings
Must be able to provide 2 work-related reference letters for caregiving within the last 5 years
Must be available at least 2 shifts/week at the time of applying (caregivers with weekend availability given preference)
Must pass national criminal background check including driving record, social security number or tax ID verification and drug test (paid by Caregiver Connection)
Caregiver must purchase and maintain current personal liability insurance (less than $150/year as of 2025), which will be transferable to caregiver’s private jobs
Must be willing to take ongoing education (3-6 hours annually) at your own expense
Must be willing to maintain a strict non-smoking environment
Must have own car, car insurance, cell phone and functioning e-mail
Must understand that Caregiver Connection does not provide worker's compensation insurance or health benefits
Must be active with registry for at least a year, and understand that this does not restrict you from seeking other work
Must understand that Caregiver Connection will make every effort to generate referrals for you, but cannot guarantee work

Applications are reviewed every week.
Within one week of applying, applicants will receive an email with next steps for you to take if we feel you are a potential match for our registry, or stating that we will not be contacting you for an interview (i.e. not a match).
